Frequently Asked Questions
Discover the answers to your frequently asked questions about Dear Maiah products.
There’s no such thing as non-tarnish in coated jewelry. The coating naturally wears off over time. But with proper care, your pieces can last up to 3-10 years. Check our Jewelry Care Instructions.
- With Dear Maia, we use 3 different types of base metals.
Copper – We use copper for our intricate and special designs because it is softer than other materials used in jewelry making. It allows for more detailed craftsmanship. However, copper requires extra care as it is more sensitive to chemicals such as perfume, alcohol, and other substances. As a result, copper tarnishes faster compared to our other materials. - Stainless Steel – Stainless steel is one of our most loved materials. It’s strong, hypoallergenic, and resistant to tarnish and rust—perfect for daily wear, whether for work, fun, or anything in between. While it’s a low-maintenance material, that doesn’t mean you don’t have to take care of it, Dear! Click here for our jewelry care instructions.
- Silver – Silver is a timeless classic! We use this material for its elegance, natural beauty, and lasting value. With proper care, silver maintains its polished look over time.
All our pieces are non-easily tarnished and waterproof. But we still recommend keeping them dry for a longer-lasting shine!
With proper care, your Dear Maiah pieces will shine longer!

Absolutely! Our stainless steel jewelry is waterproof, sweat-proof, and tarnish-resistant, made for shower, workouts, and all-day wear. Perfect for your everyday lifestyle!
Our jewelry is designed for everyday wear and is resistant to water and sweat. However, to keep your pieces looking their best, we still recommend proper care—especially for copper and silver. With the right care, your jewelry can last 3 to 10 years, depending on usage and handling.
